Intro - English
NVivo 14 - Introduction to Qualitative Data Analysis Software (QDAS) (English)
Hello, and thanks for participating in our NVivo course.
Since we only have a limited space of time to enjoy each other's company, it is important that you have all installed NVivo AND we recommend that you complete the first three sets of exercises beforehand (see below).
Installation:
Prior to the course, you must install the version of NVivo called NVivo 14 on your laptop.
You can do that here for Windows:
https://download.qsrinternational.com/Software/NVivo14/NVivo.x64.exe
Links to an external site.
And here for Mac:
https://download.qsrinternational.com/Software/NVivo14forMac/NVivo.dmg
Links to an external site.
After download, use the registration key available through the UCPH Software Library. (The key can be found under the linke "QSR International - NVivo".)
In case of any difficulties in this process, please contact Copenhagen University’s Service desk.
Exercises:
When you have installed NVivo go on to the exercises 1, 2, and 3, located under the tab Modules.
Please make sure to use the English exercises at the bottom (even if you're a Danish speaker), as the course material is different.
In addition, under the Files Files tab, you will find all documents used in connection with the exercises.
For the initial exercises, you will need to use the ten Word documents with the inauguration speeches from Presidents of the United States.
Please note: There is both an exercise module for PC and one for Mac. NVivo works best with PC, and there are also more functionalities in the PC version, than in the Mac version, but all the features we are focusing on in this course work in both versions.
The exercises should be relatively straightforward, but it is nonetheless important to review them in advance in order to utilise our time together more effectively.
KUB Datalab has a website with advice and instructions for using NVivo:
Lumivero also has a help page for NVivo - both for PC:
And for Mac:
In addition, there are a number of video tutorials - both for PC:
And for Mac:
Finally, there is a forum (The NVivo Community) where you can ask questions:
We look forward to seeing you.
Yours Sincerely
