1. Importing documents

Before starting with the exercises, it is, of course, necessary to import the exercise material into NVivo.

In this case, we are working with ten inauguration speeches from Presidents of the United States.

How to:

With NVivo open, import can be done in one of two ways:

  1. Click the tab “Data”. Then click “Documents”, and you can now find and select your ten speeches.
  2. Open “Data”>”Files” in the left side of the screen. You can now drag-and-drop the files from the folder on your computer into NVivo.

Both methods will give the same result.
