0. Making a new project in Nvivo
The next 12 pages provide a quick start tutorial to NVivo for PC users. We'll guide you through creating a project, coding and coding hierarchies, basic queries, working with cases and attributes and how to make a framework matrix.
Let's get started by making a new project in NVivo
When you open NVivo click on “new project” on the welcome page. Alternatively, click on “File” (top left in the blue menu) and then “New”.
Step 1
Fill out the dialogue box with the project title of your choice. Check where the file is being saved in your directory and correct if necessary.
Add a brief description of your project.
Mark the box: Keep a log of user actions. Click “OK”. Activating user actions to project event log means that Nvivo keeps a record of your activity and documents how you have worked with the data.
Select the primary language of the text you will be working with.
Step 2
Choose the preferred way to save you project, the frequency recovery files are created, the number of recent files stored and where to store them.
Click on "Create project".
