Fluid dynamics
As it is the case with the other modules, the history of fluid dynamics could easily occupy us for the entire course. But we have to make some choices and select episodes of crucial importance for a deeper analysis. The two cases chosen are the original formulation of Bernoulli's equation and Euler's first derivation of the continuity equation. The former will look quite different from typical textbook derivations and it won't be easy to grasp Bernoulli's reasoning. The latter will appear more familiar to the modern reader and will exemplify Euler's importance for shaping the mathematical formalism of mechanics.
