Useful information

Welcome! It is great to have you on board.

Here is some useful information:

1) Time and place

Lectures: Mo (13:15-15:00) and We (10:15-12:00)

Discussions: Mo (15:15-17:00) and We (13:15-15:00)

We will always be at Aud C (NBI - Blegdamsvej)

2) Assigment 0: Expectations and wishes

Please fill out the Assignment 0: Expectations and wishes before February 3.

3) Reading material

The reading material is divided into three categories:

Expected - Excerpts from original sources containing the main issues that will be discussed in the module

Recommended - Texts from secondary sources explaining the original sources (often in modern terms)

Complementary - Texts presenting a broad overview of the topic and its historical context

4) Questions from expected reading

You are kindly asked to formulate at least three questions that came to your mind while reading the originals. These questions will be used to guide the lectures and structure the discussion sessions. Your questions from Module 1 can already be submitted here.

5) Course calendar

6) Weekly assignments

By the end of each week (conclusion of two modules) you will be asked to submit a "reflection essay", in which you reflect about your learning experience (e.g. what you have learned, how the historical perspective changed your views about the topic, etc). Each essay must have no more than 1500 words and will be read by the censors before your exam. In this way, the examiners will have a deeper view on your learning process and will be able to assess your learning outcomes more accurately.

7) Feedback

Several feedback mechanisms will be implemented throughout the course. For instance, at the end of each module an anonymous short survey will be conducted. You will also receive oral and/or written feedback on all your assignments. This should ensure a constant monitoring of the teaching/learning process and avoid unexpected surprises in the final exam.

8) Seminars

In the seminar you will have the opportunity to pick up a topic that you want to investigate more deeply and give a presentation to the class in the last weeks of the course. The time allocated for each seminar is 1h30min (2 x 45min). We recommend that you form groups of two, but seminars given by individuals can also be accepted. Download Here

are some suggestions of topics for inspiration. You are free to choose another topic, as long as it is previously agreed with the course responsibles. The seminar topics and groups shall be defined no later than the end of week 6.
